Cross domain AJAX request using PHP and jQuery
I'm having trouble with doing a cross domain request using the jQuery $.post() method. I keep getting the following error:
XMLHttpRequest cannot load
No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.
Origin '' is therefore not allowed access.
I'm aware that I can use JSONP if I want to get around CORS but that is a bit overkill for this project. I've also read a few articles that suggest that JSONP can be encoded with Javascript and then send back to the server as a.php file. I've tried this and had the same results.
Any suggestions?

If your web site is running over https (and really all modern web sites are), it's recommended to start using https as well as CORS. It's still possible to spoof the CORS headers and send content, but you can't spoof the SSL. It also means your web site is secure in all ways.
To get around the CORS problem, do the CORS over https using SSL.

I just finished a little article on African box turtles, all box turtles, for the Florida Herp and Reptile Field Guide.
The cover photo is a photo of a young African box turtle and the article is about the populations of them in Florida.
The four box turtle species, Emydoidea annulata, E. macrura, E. steindachneri, and E. unicolor, are in decline throughout the world. They are of particular concern in Florida, where their numbers have declined by at least 90% over the past century. The decline in Florida has been particularly acute over the past 20 years, with a steady 15% decrease per year.
Emydoidea annulata is the species most likely to be encountered in Florida, although this may not be a good thing. These box turtles are omnivores, eating a lot of ac619d1d87
